San Francisco, CA, April 4, 2019 – ProSomnus Sleep Technologies announced that the Company’s new ProSomnus [PH] Precision Herbst-style Sleep Apnea Device for patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) now qualifies for Medicare reimbursement. The Pricing, Data Analysis, and Coding (PDAC) Contractor has reviewed, verified and approved the Device for Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS) code E0486.
“The ProSomnus [PH] Device and coding assignment gives prescribing physicians and dentist providers a new, comfortable, and effective precision medicine option for treating Medicare patients with OSA,” noted Len Liptak, CEO of ProSomnus Sleep Technologies.
The ProSomnus [PH] Device is designed to address the rapidly increasing Medicare population with OSA. Reports forecast that the number of Medicare beneficiaries will increase by 25 million people over the next 10 years. Studies estimate that 20% to 30% of Medicare beneficiaries have OSA, a condition associated with significantly increased health risks if left untreated. Many patients will either prefer Oral Appliance Therapy or will not be able to adhere to CPAP and require alternative therapies.
The ProSomnus [PH] is the first precision Herbst-style sleep apnea device for Oral Appliance Therapy. The device features a slim, smooth, low profile design and other innovations that are intended to make the device comfortable and easy to use, while conforming to the E0486 coding requirements. ProSomnus plans to debut the ProSomnus [PH] Sleep Device at the 2019 American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine meeting in June. Please contact ProSomnus for more information.
